Welcome to the TCC Bioscience web site, where you will find news and information about bioscience programs at Tulsa Community College. I hope you will find it useful. Input from students, faculty, and staff is crucial, however. Please submit event information and photos, comments on science activities at your campus, and any other information you would like to share. You can email me at the address to the right, or add comments to a blog post.
Let me provide a little background information about my role, because I haven't had the opportunity to meet everyone yet. I was hired in January through an OK-INBRE grant to coordinate outreach efforts at TCC to recruit, retain, and transfer students in bioscience majors. To this end, I am available to present or speak to classes or student groups about bioscience careers or opportunities for scholarships, internships, or research experiences. I look forward to spending time with students, whether it's only for a few minutes or for conducting an inquiry activity. My background is in medical technology, with experience in both clinical and research settings for more than 20 years. I have also written about science as editor of the TU Vision alumni newsletter of the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences between 2000 and 2005. Beginning in 2006, I taught high school science in Broken Arrow, in addition to teaching Freshman Composition at TCC (I have a split personality, it seems). I'm excited at this point to be able to put all these experiences to work as the Bioscience Outreach Representative. I look forward to meeting more students and faculty in the coming months and to growth in the biosciences at TCC. Please be in touch.
